Great Nouméa Dream destination

Leave Nouméa behind and explore Greater Nouméa, a dynamic and multicultural extension where urban development meets cultural diversity. This region includes the cities of Dumbéa, Païta, and Mont-Dore, each with its own unique characteristics.

Dumbéa

Dumbéa is a city in full expansion, moving towards growing urbanization and increasingly modern infrastructure. If you’re tempted by a shopping experience, you’ll find brand-new shopping centers that have sparked a true revolution in this Pacific archipelago.

On the nature side, Dumbéa offers numerous natural sites: hidden natural pools in still-preserved landscapes, the old dam, Marmites du Diable, and Trou des Nurses, all of which are surprising and unmissable spots. For those who love heights, hikers of all levels will find joy in the trails of Monts Dzumac, Mont-Koghis, and Pic Malaoui, each promising incredible panoramic views.

Le Parc Fayard is one of the favorite destinations for families. It’s the perfect spot for picnics or simply relaxing in a peaceful, wooded setting. Throughout the year, the park comes alive with markets, fairs, and traditional events, such as the city’s festival in April, highlighted by a giant omelet.

Païta

In the unique setting of Toro Bay, be sure to have your camera ready: this is where you’ll find the 80-year-old wreck of the cargo ship Melanesia, which has been stranded on the site for about twenty years. Just a few steps away, the villa-museum located on the site of the traditional Fête du Bœuf offers guided tours and exhibitions.
For the more adventurous, the zip lines of La Belle Verte, installed on Mont-Mou, offer an exhilarating aerial perspective to admire the beauty and density of the rainforest from above the canopy.

Attention to Epicureans: Don’t miss the vanilla plantation at Haute Karikouié. Known throughout the country and awarded a silver medal at the 2016 Salon de l’Agriculture, its “frosted” vanilla contains twice as much vanillin for an intensified aroma!
