Horse riding

Who hasn’t dreamed of galloping along a long white sandy beach, with the sun setting on the horizon? Well, in the South Pacific, there’s an archipelago where this sweet dream can become reality: New Caledonia. An equestrian’s paradise, horses are much more than just an activity here, they’re a passion shared by many locals. Part of the population has even made it a way of life: the stockmen and stockwomen, the island cowboys and cowgirls of Bourail.

A number of horse trails, such as Domaine de Deva and Parc des Grandes Fougères, run through the typical Grande Terre bush plains. Along the Ouenghi and Dumbéa rivers, the paths lose themselves in the rivers to combine the ochre soils with the gentle waters of Le Caillou (the rock). And if our initial romance is still fresh in your mind, head for Poe beach. Here, stretches of sand border a UNESCO World Heritage lagoon for magical horseback rides!

Between land and sea, turn your dreams into reality and discover our selection of New Caledonia’s most beautiful horseback rides.
