Opened in 2006, Nëkwéta Surf Camp was the first surf camp in New Caledonia. Set in a prime location, it accommodates a maximum of 14 guests. The buildings have been sympathetically designed to reflect Oceanian and Melanesian architecture. The friendly, authentic atmosphere is enhanced by the sound of the waves on the beach. The guest house is set in a lush, tropical garden 2 minutes’ walk from the beach and offers a large family hut, two tropical rooms and a small additional bungalow. It also offers table d’hôte dining with meals made from fresh, local produce like fish, wild boar and deer. Vegetables are produced on site by the owner Manu, a local who is passionate about permaculture.
A professional skipper, founder of the BWARA Marine Turtle Association and dedicated surfer, Manu will be your guide and tell you all about his home on your lagoon outings. Stéphanie has been taking care of the guest house and the cooking for 11 years, producing tasty dishes full of local flavours. Your hosts show their commitment to the environment by sorting and composting waste and using LED bulbs, green household products, short supply chains and locally caught fish and meat.
Nëkwéta Surf Camp also runs eco-discovery tours and boat trips to the best surfing waves on the reef.
