The park hosts the largest population of cagou in the territory! The cagou, or rhynochetos jubatus, is the emblem of New Caledonia, of which it is an endemic species. Living in the forest, its diet is composed of insects and worms. It does not fly, nests on the ground and lays only one egg per year.
