The Wind Pacific Ocean Challenge, an exceptional adventure in the heart of the South Lagoon

Sud Tourisme is delighted to announce its partnership with Asptt Noumea Glisse for the Défi Wind Pacific Ocean, the inaugural stage of the brand new Défi Wind World Series international windsurfing circuit. This competition will offer participants a unique opportunity to discover exceptional natural areas, opening up new prospects for board sports and tourism in New Caledonia.

Breathtaking scenery

The Wind Pacific Ocean Challenge allows competitors to immerse themselves in spectacular, rarely-explored natural settings. This initiative, supported by the South Province, is a unique opportunity for water sports enthusiasts to discover breathtaking seascapes where the usual practice rarely ventures.

This inaugural edition will be held in the South Province, with a route along the western lagoon, from Mont-Dore to Boulouparis. The twenty-five enthusiastic athletes will cover between 60 and 100 km a day. The images promise a fine showcase for the destination and its tourism potential.

A visibility operation for board sports tourism

This competition asserts New Caledonia’s presence on the international board sports scene. Sud Tourisme Nouvelle-Calédonie and the South Province are delighted with the positive impact that the Wind Pacific Ocean Challenge could have on the region’s tourist appeal. By inviting participants from all over the world to join in this adventure, we hope to welcome even more visitors who want to discover the natural wonders and exceptional activities our magnificent destination has to offer.

Opening the destination to winter sports enthusiasts every year

In the years to come, the Wind Pacific Ocean Challenge will continue to evolve, expanding its footprint to cover the entire territory, with Nouméa as its starting point. This expansion promises to make New Caledonia an essential hub for board sports enthusiasts, reinforcing the link between sport, nature, and sustainable tourism.
