The participatory budget, also known as “Mon idée pour ma Province” (“My idea for my Province”), is an initiative launched by the South Province, enabling people to propose or vote for investment projects of general or local interest.

The scheme was an immediate success from the outset, with 161 projects submitted, 38 of which were declared winners. The success of subsequent editions has continued unabated, with 66 winning projects out of 203 submitted for the 2nd edition, and 50 winning projects out of 114 submitted for the 3rd edition last year.
The public voting phase saw nearly 2,500 opinions expressed in the first edition, over 3,800 in the second, and over 3,100 last year.
