Opening of a tourist information office on the Isle of Pines
Sud Tourisme, the attraction agency for southern New Caledonia carried by the province and its communes since April this year, is once again extending its network of tourist information offices, with the opening of a new tourist information point in Kuto Bay on the Isle of Pines as of this December 12.
Naïa Watéou, provincial councillor and Sud Tourisme board member, represented its president Jean-Gabriel Favreau at the inauguration, alongside Laura Vendegou and Christophe Delière. A festive moment that sealed the trust that the commune and the kunié clans place in the South Province, Sud Tourisme, represented by its General Manager Roxanne Brun, and Betico and its General Manager Edouard Castaing
Located opposite the small wharf, just 500m from the Betico landing stage, on the road leading to the magnificent and not-to-be-missed bays of Kuto and Kanumera, the tourist office is housed in historic buildings, restored and made available by the South Province.
Visitors will be greeted every day except Wednesday by Katia and Marie-Françoise, both Île des Pins natives, who act as tourist advisors. For Sud Tourisme Nouvelle-Calédonie, the aim is to help visitors “create their most beautiful memories”, providing information on activities to enjoy during their stay, traditional customs to respect and nuggets to discover for an unforgettable experience. A selection of local tourist souvenirs will also be available in the information point’s boutique from next January.
This information point, like the destination’s tourist offices, also provides a privileged contact to support the island’s tourism service providers, qualify the offer and work on developing a common strategy. For this, Katia and Marie-Françoise will be supported by the area’s tourism development referent, Salomé Saugnac.
The Sud Tourisme attractiveness agency, the South Province and Betico salute the work carried out by the commune and the customary people, for making these new services available to help boost tourism, and look forward to seeing you at the Île des Pins tourist office.
