182 ways to enjoy the lagoon

The State, the Government of New Caledonia, the South Province, Nouméa Town Hall, and the Port Autonome have all taken numerous measures to manage the shark risk.

The economic context is particularly tough for tourism players in the nautical sector. Communicating about the current restrictions in Nouméa can cause anxiety, and regular regulation campaigns make it tricky for both locals and visitors to grasp the schedule of possible activities.

At the request of the South Province, in support of the many measures that have been put in place, and without denying the current situation, Sud Tourisme Nouvelle-Calédonie is proposing a promotional campaign about the lagoon’s tourism potential. The aim is to clarify and facilitate access to information, and to highlight the water sports activities that are permitted.

A special page has been set up on the destination’s website to highlight the sailing, surfing, and diving options available, as well as the natural sites to enjoy: the water-based activities, beaches, and islets that make the South Province a destination with incredible aquatic assets are listed there.

A communication kit, including the video in French and English, as well as a poster redirecting visitors to this dedicated page on the destination’s website, is available to tourism service providers and attractiveness agency partners.
