      Our Advisor's Top Pick

My top pick in Bourail is perfect for families, couples, and groups looking to enjoy the fresh air and connect with nature and animals: Les Bergers de Dreamland, an educational farm. Open daily by reservation, it offers activities where children can feed the many animals on-site. I also have a second favorite, the Bourail Museum. I always recommend our visitors stop by the museum before relaxing on our beautiful beaches. It’s important to absorb this history, and visitors are always delighted.

      Your stay Step by Step

Day 1 Immersive Journey in a Tribe

      Only on Tuesday/Saturday

To kick off your weekend, start with a stop at the Tourist Office, where an advisor will guide you to hidden gems not to be missed. Then, gather with the group and dive into authenticity with a day dedicated to exploring culture and tradition, including preparing bougna following ancestral customs and a weaving workshop—an unforgettable experience in Bourail, courtesy of Bourail Shuttle Service.

You’ll be warmly welcomed into a tribe where you’ll participate in preparing bougna with local women, immersing yourself in traditional culinary practices. Meet Mr. “Café” to learn about the coffee transformation process, from cherry to cup, using traditional methods. Then, venture into the heights of the Ny district to discover the fascinating history and age-old traditions of the tribe. Share a friendly moment around the traditional bougna dish, made with fresh local ingredients, and savor the unique flavors of Kanak cuisine.

After lunch, unwind by learning traditional Kanak weaving, a cultural and artistic activity. Conclude this immersive, enriching day with a return to Bourail, taking home unforgettable memories from this tribal learning experience.

      Sunset

At the end of the day, enjoy the sunset with an aperitif like a local, either in the heights of the Deva estate, taking in the view of Shark Pass if you have time, or on Poé Beach.

      Day 2 Moment of Escape

Start your day gently with breakfast in the village of Bourail and make sure to pick up some of the famous venison sausage at La Broussarde—but save enough for the aperitif!

Then dive into adventure with an unforgettable visit to Turtle Bay. Stroll along the path lined with towering columnar pines, explore natural rock formations that create spa-like pools, and discover the bay’s natural wonders, including a small cave leading to another beach. From here, enjoy a breathtaking view of Bourail’s famous Roche Percée beach and its ‘Gentleman’ rock formation. This unique rock, shaped by waves to resemble a bent-over figure, is locally celebrated, so take a moment to marvel at the serenity of the place and explore this natural wonder.

      Please note:

The passage between the two beaches is only accessible at low tide; otherwise, the beach can also be reached by road.

In the afternoon, let yourself be carried away by the magic of horseback riding in an enchanting setting with a trail ride at Far West Ranch in Deva. Explore the charming landscapes of the region while experiencing the authentic lifestyle of cowboys.
