Our Advisor's Favorite

For sunsets, I love going to Mount Venus – it’s just amazing! I like to go there with a little drink, set up on a mat, with some snacks for an aperitif, local style, and enjoy the beautiful view. People come with their families, friends, and you can meet new people. It’s really living like a local.

Your Stay Step by Step

Day 1 A Day by the Sea

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at one of the local bakeries. Sip a freshly brewed coffee while enjoying a crispy pastry, with the sea in front of you. Then head to the Baie de la Moselle market. Wander through the colorful stalls filled with exotic fruits, fresh vegetables, and freshly caught fish. Soak in the flavors and aromas floating in the air.

Continue your day with a fascinating visit to the Nouméa Lagoon Aquarium, located at Anse Vata, where you’ll discover the incredible diversity of local marine life, from coral reefs to sea turtles.

Next, take a short walk to embark on a paddle adventure in the crystal-clear waters of Nouméa’s lagoon, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Paddle to Duck Islet, where you can snorkel and explore a marine life of extraordinary richness. We even suggest taking a break to sip a refreshing drink on a sun lounger before heading back on your return journey.

Sunset

At the end of the day, admire the sunset with an aperitif like a local, from the heights of Mount Venus.

Day 2 A Breath of Escape

Start your day with a cultural visit to the Tjibaou Cultural Centre. Immerse yourself in the world of Kanak culture by exploring the pavilions inspired by traditional great huts. Admire the contemporary art exhibitions and traditional objects, participate in interactive workshops, and let yourself be enchanted by the stories and legends of the Kanak people. A stroll through the centre’s lush gardens will allow you to discover the richness of the local flora.

On your way back, make a stop to explore the Provincial Zoological and Forestry Park, where you can observe New Caledonian wildlife in a natural setting. Meet the cagou, New Caledonia’s iconic bird, and wander beneath the park’s century-old trees.

Don’t miss the sunset at Baie des Citrons, a spectacle that turns the sky into a vibrant palette of colors. Choose a comfortable spot, perhaps on a bar terrace, and let yourself be captivated by the magic of the moment. To finish the day in style, a night of dancing in one of the local clubs will let you continue the fun until late into the night. If you prefer a quieter evening, opt for a nighttime stroll along the promenade between Baie des Citrons and Anse Vata, where the city’s sparkling lights reflect on the calm water.
