When people visit Bourail, many head to the coast, but if you’re looking for something truly authentic, I highly recommend Le Paradis d’Amédée. It’s one of my favorites—although I have many favorites, this place really stands out. Located in Bourail, it’s just stunning. Originally, the owner wanted to build a shrimp pond, so he created a dam on the river. Over time, he built it up using materials he salvaged from the village. There’s no road to reach his place; you have to follow a trail that winds down to the river.
What’s so beautiful is the walk down through the forest, with no idea of what awaits, until you stumble upon something magical in the middle of nature. Now there are eels in the pond, and you can even order a bougna to enjoy with family and friends.
