Lagoon side

Boasting an exceptional diversity of coral and fish species, the Caledonian lagoon is one of UNESCO’s World Heritage treasures. There’s so much to discover and do here: explore the islets, stroll along the most beautiful beaches, escape on a catamaran, meet the whales or fly through the skies over New Caledonia… On land, at sea or in the air, you’ll enjoy yourself!

Beaches and islets

Check out the white sandy beaches lining the lagoon and enjoy a swim or some water activities in its crystal-clear waters. Take a trip to the lagoon’s little islands for a day of exploring or just chilling out, whatever floats your boat!

Kitesurf, dive and whale watching

Water activities are a must on the island. There are kitesurfing spots suited to all levels. If you’re a beginner, you can learn at one of the specialized schools. The coral reefs are home to diverse marine life that you can explore while diving or snorkeling. If you’re around between July and September, don’t miss out on one of the most extraordinary experiences of the year: humpback whale watching.

Catamaran cruise and sea fishing

Sail across one of the world’s most stunning lagoons aboard a catamaran for an unforgettable cruise. Stop at shallow spots for a snorkel session, or dive deep into the Coral Sea to explore underwater ecosystems. Outside the nature reserves, fishing comes in two flavors: big game fishing, where you’re chasing after giants like marlin or tuna, and traditional fishing using nets, spears, or lines.

Above the lagoon

A helicopter or light plane flight reveals the grandeur of the lagoon. Discover its shades of blue from the sky. Take your pick from a seaplane, ultralight aircraft, helicopter, paramotor, or go for the thrill of skydiving or paragliding to admire the different hues of this atoll.
