Hiking in La Foa

La Foa is a true slice of nature nestled between the West Coast and the mountains. Soak up the panoramic views by heading up to the Dogny Plateau. This historical crossroads, where tribes from both the East and West of New Caledonia once met, overlooks the towns of Sarraméa and La Foa. Wander through the many trails winding through the forests of the Central Range, or explore the Grand Ferns National Park where you might spot the famous New Caledonian birds, the notou and the cagou. This area is also home to the Ouano site, which boasts three walking tracks that are open to everyone. Covering 155 hectares, this UNESCO-listed mangrove is one of the gems of the Caledonian West Coast.
