Events in Bourail are as rich as the town itself.
Among the highlights of this west coast town are numerous sporting events. Don’t miss the French Cycling Championship in June or the XDeva triathlon in August, both of which are Caledonian institutions.
Nature lovers gather in winter to witness a phenomenon as beautiful as it is magical. Bourail and its lagoon are the favourite nesting spots for Loggerhead turtles. Every year, hundreds of eggs hatch to the delight of locals and tourists, offering the chance to marvel at the baby turtles making their way to the ocean.
However, if there is one event that best represents the identity of the region, it would be the Bourail Fair. Since 1977, New Caledonian farmers, craftsmen, and agricultural workers have gathered in August to celebrate bush culture. This unique and authentic cultural immersion is not to be missed!
