When to come to New Caledonia

 Best season to visit

New Caledonia enjoys a tropical climate, with a warm season from November to April and a cooler season from May to October. The ideal time to visit, especially for pleasant weather conditions, is between September and December.

 Igname Festival

Celebrated in March or April, this festival marks the beginning of the harvest season, a significant moment in Kanak culture.

 Bourail's Fair

An annual event in August that showcases the bush culture with rodeos, agricultural exhibitions, and crafts.

 Boulouparis Deer and Shrimp Festival

Held every year, the event attracts both locals and tourists alike. This festival highlights two of the region’s flagship products.

 Air and Sea Transportation

La Tontouta International Airport is the main gateway to New Caledonia. To visit the islands, Air Calédonie offers flights connecting the mainland (Grande-Terre) with the Loyalty Islands. Additionally, ferry services, such as the Betico, link the main island to the surrounding islands.

 Rental car or public transportation

Car rental is very popular on the island, offering flexibility and convenience for exploring the territory. Public bus services are also available, though they are less frequent outside of Nouméa.
